Stone Type
slate
Tympanum
face with ornamentation
Border
A two-line border protects the outer edge of the stone. Three illustrated panels surround the tablet. Along with the pinwheel-like designs, they form a plant with a helix-like stem and leaves.
Remark
The tympanum has four design elements. The pointed oval of the face contains primitive simple facial features (e.g. circles, lines). Two six-point stars in circles align to the left and right of the face. Smaller line drawings of a six point star sit just above the face. Below the face the two lines represent life (i.e. a plant) The original stone was embedded in a concrete frame. Placing it into the space obviously caused some additional damage. Oxidation accelerates the loss of the stone.
