- The bas relief plant in the tympanum forms the upper border of the tympanum and provides the plant imagery within the tympanum. The plant begins and mirror image ends in the tympanum's negative space. The plant then reoccurs on the shoulders and leads down and immediately changes into the arch and pillar tablet images.
