Stone Type
slate
Tympanum
face (alone)
Border
A four line, three medium width border surrounds both the tympanum and tablet sections of this stone. There is a single line at the bottom of the tympanum
Remark
The tympanum's interior space is occupied by a primitive human engraved design which includes a circles for the head, eyes and hair. An odd shaped body, which looks more like a football player with pads, is underneath an impossibly small neck. The rest of the negative space is blank. The winged figure shows a male of youthful age. The wings are raised to the top of his head and are detailed with segmentation of the feather. There is a clearly defined front edge to the wing. The face is sanguine with heavily lidded eyelids, straight mouth expression, hair combed to the front and a beautifully defined, properly portioned nose. The cheeks and chin are subtly defined but highly realistic. The side panels are illustrated with lilies on long stalks with buds.
