Stone Type
slate
Tympanum
face with ornamentation
Border
A wider two line border surrounds the outer edge of this stone. It offers an aberration as the border line usually goes over the shoulder and down the sides. In some instances it will surround the design at the shoulders and then down the sides. But here, the border line partially enclosed the shoulder. The side panels of this stone are cascading but more plant like than aquatic. There is also an unusual line running through the middle of the tablet which may have been etched post-manufacture and installation.
Remark
The tympanum figure is individualistic. He is wearing a detailed formal wig, his pupil-filled eyes include eyebrows and lids, the nose is a separate element and is a 'bit" more normal, the mouth is straight across and there are beginning of cheeks forming. His neck collar is over his feathers marking the transformation. The wings and their feathers are also highly detailed, arced to ear level and take up the bottom of the tympanum.
