Tympanum
face with ornamentation, memento mori
Border
The border on the tympanum, which is the arch of heaven, is formed from the plant life pictured below the winged face. The tablet section is segregated through the columns and arch that present the tablet.
Remark
The arch in the tympanum both begins and ends with the plant life just below the winged face. The two sides of the plant are not mirror imaged. The symmetrical presentation of the rest of the tympanum follows unique transitions. First the face with the hair parted in the middle and led over the "ears." It could easily be said that the face is asexual and in fact appears more female than male. The expression is one more of concern than any other emotion. The face is late period with good realism. The nose is in proportion as are the cheeks and chin. The wings are the tab type A small diamond shape, like a brooch, is perched right in the center of a heart at the nadir of the two lobes. Below the heart are two banners; one with memento and the other with mori. Their inner ends gracefully support each side of the bottom point of the heart and their outer ends morph into a mirror imaged plant on each side. A mirror imaged plant comes off the outer edge of the heads of each column.
