Stone Type
slate
Tympanum
face with ornamentation
Border
A single two line border encircles this entire stone (tympanum & tablet sections). Illustrated side and bottom panels border the tablet. This design appears to cascade/move upward while other work flow down. It appears more plant-like than fluid-like. The coloration of the stone is present on these panels too with the design in the lighter color and the background the darker shade.
Remark
The tympanum shows an effective use of this coloration process. The face is tinted light blue while the background is the darker purple color. The bas relief face is smiling with three stage eyes, curly hair, eyebrows and a slightly out of proportion nose. The wings are a unique design. It looks like the tab from previous design are lay on top of one another to form the wing shapes. But these wings re very nicely shaped into three sections and the design helps inspire motion.
