- Stone Type
- sandstone
- Tympanum
- face with ornamentation
- Border
- A simple two line border of medium width covers the tympanum, hops over the stone's shoulders and proceeds down each side. From the shoulders, an additional line adds another border layer.
- Remark
- The central image of the face takes up 85% of the tympanum. There are multipoint edges on the left and right and while they could represent the sky overhead, along with the marks above the head, they could also be seen as precursors to the stage curtains to which the tympanum will evolve.
Humanism is creeping into the face with a chin, detailed eyes, an inaccurate but more realistic nose, and the wild hair. As this child died young, one can assume his hair was curly. The neck and shoulders are generic. It also indicates the Sandersons used the same mason for both stones.
