slate
Tympanum
face (female)
Border
There is a two line, thin width border around the circumference of this stone. Some of these details were damaged either prior to or during the stone's installation within its granite frame. 60% of the side and bottom illustrated panels still exist.
Remark
The tympanum includes a band of star designs to indicate the heavens above us all. There are thin, two line border lines above and below this band of the heavens to further support its separateness from humanity. The face in the center is an early rendition with a very round head shape and eye sockets, rudimentary triangular nose and wavy frizzy hair. The illustrated panels seems almost free hand. There is a Canterbury Cross at the top of the two columns. Cascading rounded designs stream downward and across the bottom panel.
