Surveyed On
September 1, 2015
Stone Type
slate
Tympanum
skull
Border
It is clear the outer edge of this stone was lost whether before it's installation into the granite frame or during. Given the state of the art in that period, we can surmise that there was a border around the outside along with another figure inside the tympanum inside of the border representing the heavens. There is no evidence of side panels.
Remark
The remainder of the tympanum that remains is filled with a winged skull figure. The width of the wings fills the space using a single quill, segmented feather design throughout. The skull seems from the early middle period. It is still lightbulb-shaped with the teeth forming a base and a triangular nasal cavity and round eyes.
Physical Status
straight cracked
Intelligibility
readable, broken images or writing
Biological Contaminants
medium incursion
