Surveyed On
September 1, 2015
Stone Type
slate
Tympanum
skull
Border
Despite the modifications forced onto this stone to permit its inclusion into the granite frame, most of the details are still discernible. The two line, thin width border appears to cover three sides of this stone (not the bottom). The two illustrated side panels contain mirror image designs. A blooming flower is in the top circle. Below it are three whirlpool design of alternating directions.
Remark
The tympanum's skull is full size so that it fills the height of the space. The oval eyes, triangular nasal cavity and disproportional teeth display make this appear as a late middle period. The single quill, multi-segment wings fill the rest of the space.
Physical Status
straight missing_parts
Intelligibility
readable, broken images or writing

medium incursion
