slate
Tympanum
face with ornamentation
Border
This beautiful stone has a thin width, two line border around its circumference. The tablet section appears as a mounted, three line, two medium width bordered gabled plaque.
Remark
The day of the month was a guess due to the stone's unfortunate orientation. An odd shaped chunk was broken off the stone's base, but the rust coloration is striking. The tympanum utilizes four design elements. The arch overhead resides direction over the head. The rendition is late middle period with good humanization features. The wings are the tap type (minimal detail, uniform shape). There is a single point in each lower corner of the tympanum.
