Stone Type
slate
Tympanum
face with ornamentation, memento mori
Border
A simple two line, thin width border runs the circumference of this stone. There are illustrated side panels to the left and right of the tablet section. The two section are divided at a single line bisecting the stone.
Remark
This stone has suffered and been damaged over the years, but enough is still discernible for us. The tympanum imagery is of an advanced, more complex design. Two banners spacial replace the traditional arch. The top banner reads Memento Mori while the lower appears to say Blessed are / in the Lord . The multipoint background extends to the tablet. Damage to the bottom section of the tympanum left us with the rectangular gaping holes. Plantlike designs inhabit the two outer corners. What is left of the face is early period due to the round shape but later in the period due to teh humanist nose and smile. The side panels are illustrated with a stylised plant design that proceeds up the panel from the bottom.
