Stone Type
slate
Tympanum
face with ornamentation, memento mori
Border
A two line, thin width border runs along the outside border of this stone. The gabled plaque of the tablet section has a separate single line border around it. As the plaque is presented in bas-relief, there is a deep line with an increasing elevation around it's circumference. The plaque looks mounted in a stone frame.
Remark
The three design elements in the tympanum are jammed into their space. The memento mori gets the center space. There is a generic body and face in an niche at the center of this tympanum. Unisex with straight combed back here, the reality of the face is clearly from a later period. Mirror image vines grow from the stone's shoulders to the left and right of the figure.
