Stone Type
slate
Tympanum
face with ornamentation
Border
The thin, two line border that starts on the tympanum, proceeds over the stone's shoulders and then down the outside of the illustrated panels found on three side of the tablet.
Remark
The tympanum has three design elements. The most interesting is the arch. Here it resembles a crown with a "clubs" design at its peak. The three headed design is meant to imply faith. The bottom edge of the crown has the serrated line. Below this the face and wings fill the space. The face shows the period standard level of detail (eyes, eyebrows to nose transition, cheeks, chin, hair plastered to his skull. The wings are modified tab-type in that they are more pointed than rounded. The detail results in segmentation of the feathers. The panels around the tablet are illustrated with an upward growing plant. It originates in the middle of the bottom panel and branches out from there ending at the stone's shoulders. On either side are two plants that resemble catails.
