Stone Type
slate
Tympanum
face with ornamentation
Border
The tablet and tympanum are separated by two intersecting arcs. The upper arc forms a holistic "eye" with both the wings and the arch at the top. The lower arc forms a traditional gravestone shape against the illustrated side panels.
Remark
The tympanum has a blank space at the apex which permits the flame on top of the arch. The arch has a thin sine wave across its bottom. The face is accurately rendered as befits the period (i.e. hair combed back, emotionless, detailed facial features). The wings are the tab-type with a defined lead edge, and a collar where the head meets the wings. The illustrated side panels have plants where the leaves are wound around with the stems.
