Stone Type
slate
Tympanum
face with ornamentation
Border
The tympanum has three border lines over the dome. The outermost runs the circumference of this stone. After the dome, it encircles the stone's shoulders, which includes an inner border line around the six sided star. After the shoulders, the border thickens and proceeds down the sides. The two inner border lines form an arch over the central figure. Illustrated panels border three sides of the tablet section and plaque. Their designs are more aquatic than floral but could be either. The designs begin at the two shoulders and in the middle of the bottom panel. The side panels grow down and bottom panel grows out.
Remark
Time has taken its toll on this stone. Wear and neglect obscure many details. In the tympanum, under the two layers of border lines, there is a central figure. This early rendition has an oval face that details the eyes, eyebrows, nose and mouth. The torso is generic. There is a shawl wrapped about the face.
