Stone Type
slate
Tympanum
face with ornamentation
Border
The edge of the stone has been bevel cut. There are two border lines along the top dome of the tympanum. The outermost border hops over the stone's shoulders and down the sides. The inner border terminates at the bottom of the tympanum. There are illustrated side panels on either side of the tablet section and the plaque.
Remark
This stone's tympanum is different. While it is an early iteration, the features are unique. While the shape of the face is round as was common, the eyes are formed by a horizontal ellipse versus a more common cone shaped circular depression. The triangular nasal cavity has a curve to the bottom. The teeth are very unrealistic and small. This one does have a more frightening and evil cast. The wings almost appear more like tentacles. And the design at the bottom of the center design looks more floral but also includes the nautilus like swirl. The illustrated side panels are decorated with a more leaf-like floral patter
