In memory of Mr. Thomas Chadwick (Dea_n of the second Church of Christ in Boxford) who died Feb_y. 10_th 1788 in the 76_th year of his age.

To this sad shrine, whoe'er thou art I draw near, Here lies the husband, father, friend, most dear; Who ne-er knew joy, but friendship might devide, Nor gave to any grief, but when he dy'd: Large was his bounty, & sincere his heart, Heav'n did rich grace on him profuse impart: Such this man was, who now from earth remov'd, At length enjoys those labors which he lov'd.

The lower tablet section has a two-line border around its outer edge. Three sides of the tablet section are illustrated with panels depicting, with a high degree of realism, plants with long stems and leaves that meet in the middle of the bottom panel.
Remark
The tympanum has three design elements. The center face is realistically portrayed in a niche formed by the wings. The wings are two layer with a leading edge. These images are surrounds by plant imagery with small biradial leaves at top and mirror image plants on its lower corners.
