In Memory of Cap:t Edward Johnson, who died Oct:r 29:th 1784; in ye 70 y:r of his age.

In hope to sing with out a sob The anthem every new, I gladly bid ye dusty globe, And vain delights adieu.

There is no border marking the tympanum with the exception of the bottom line which separates the bas relief of the tympanum from the lower tablet section of the stone. The tablet section has the upper border with the tympanum but, on the sides, has a small background surface providing a border to the stone's edge.
