Border
A four line border defines the tympanum. The first two lines form a thicker line that crosses over the tympanum and encircles the decorations on the shoulders. The second and third line then form a negative space to accentuate the shape. Finally the third and fourth lines from a border as thick as the negative space which crosses over the tympanum and slides down either side of the stone. The tablet section utilizes a six line, five border design. The outermost border comes down from the tympanum along the sides. The next border comes from the innermost border on the tympanum. Going next is a border that branches off the innermost tympanum border. A border of cascading imagery encircles the tablet with centerpoints at the 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock positions which are marked by diamond shapes. Inside of that border are two more borders with one slightly wider than the other.
Remark
Several layers of the slate have delaminated and disappeared making a complete detailing of the design impossible. In the tympanum, the head is round with round eyes indicating an early period of design. The mouth is a straight line and the nose is bulbous which also correlate to that time period. His overall appearance is stern and foreboding. His wig is not detailed and it does curl to the outside at the bottom. Surprisingly the wings have a good deal of detail with thin line delineations of each feather of the wings. The background and body that remain are non-descript. The design in the shoulders are six sided stars.
