In Memory of The Rev._d Arpon Whitney AM his first Pastor of y_e Church of Chirst In PETERSHAM Who on y_e 8th of September 1779 IN the 66th Year of his Age & 41st of his Ministry Closed this varied Scene of Mortality In ference Hope of eternal Rest A faithfull Pastor, Friend & Parent too Just to mankind & to his Country true Fixed in his faith, free from Bigotry Lover of Peace & Foe to Tyranny In Manners pure & to his Friends Sincere Candid to all only to Vice fevered Watchfull to Shun promt to forgive a fault Was what he Seem'd & Seem'd but what he ought Such was this Man who now from Earth remov'd Enjoys the Peace & Liberty he love'd
