Stone Type
slate
Tympanum
skull
Border
This stone originally had a two line, thin width around its outer edge. Some of this was lost during the period prior to, or upon its interment, within the concrete frame. This stone's upper right corner also exhibits an unusual affectation. Given the way the border around the tablet section co-exists with the loss of that corner edge, it was in that shape prior to etching. This stands in contrast to pretty much every other stone with this very common shape. There are illustrated border panels on the top and the two sides. They are filled with nautilus-coiled shaped with flourish which give the imagery a more floral form. In the center of the top panel the design changes to four consecutive coiled rolls.
Remark
The tympanum is dominated very a large early rendition skull. The feature-less eye sockets are elliptical in shape, a nasal cavity follows a simple triangular design, a heart in place of the philtrum and no detail to the teeth point to this early period work.
