Border
The border over the tympanum is a six line, 5 band design. The outer border covers the tympanum and then hops over the stone's shoulders and proceeds down the sides. The next inner border is a blank space to separate the outer border from the third illustrated border. This thrid space is filled with images of single line smile shapes. After that illustrated border comes another blank separator type border. Finally at the two interior end points of the tympanum, there is a small border shaped like a curtain on a stage (which it will become in time). The illustrated side panels are oblong in shape. They are each topped with a modified Canterbury cross and filled with plants, leaves and rounded shapes. A separate panel runs along the bottom of the tablet and includes the same illustrations centered in a biradial mirror image configuration.
Remark
The face in the center of the tympanum is an early representation using a circle for the overall shape and for the eye sockets. The hair is portrayed as whirlpools of lines portraying roses. the nasal cavity is portrayed using a triangular shape.
