Stone Type
slate
Tympanum
face with ornamentation
Border
This stone's tympanum utilizes the arch image as it's upper border. At each end of the arch, it morphs into plants with seeds and leaves. The tablet section incorporates the imagery of two stone columns holding a gabled, bas-relief plaque.
Remark
The tympanum has three design elements. The arch we've already discussed. The close but not mirror image configured plant help frame the winged head. The details of the face (eye details, eyebrows to nose transition, cheeks, chin, emotionless mouth) correspond to other stones from this period. The wings are tab-type raised to be level with the top of the head.
