Stone Type
slate
Tympanum
face with ornamentation
Border
The outer border is two line, medium thick until it passes the stone's shoulders. At that point it thins out and continues down the side. There is a single line outlining the tablet section.
Remark
The tympanum begins with a two line, thick border inscribed with "Memento Mori." There are simple ornamentation lines both before and after the words. The central image is of a person with wings. It is an early late period rendition. The lower face and neck are realistically rendered. The hair clearly is an antecedent of the earlier lozenge-like designs. The Captain's image appears wider than his wife's rendition. The head rests of top of the wings utilize two different feathers. The shorter and wider feathers are closer to the wing's lead edge, while the longer more flowing feathers lie beyond.
