Remark
This historical marker is done in the style of a gravestone but likely dates from the 1900s. The tympanum uses the conventions of a gravestone with images from a later period in gravestone design. Maybe the 3 sons commissioned this which would explain the artistic period. There are three main design elements. The multiple mini-triangular cuts that make up the background are a secondary priority to the central image. Their primary help is to focus the viewer on the face. The face is a later colonial rendition with more realistic face shape with cheeks, chin and jaw discernible. The nose and eyes are detailed with the hair combed forward. The wings rely on a tab-like appearance but evolved with multiple markings to add depth. The way the wings hang down appears unusual.
