Stone Type
slate
Tympanum
face with ornamentation
Border
There is a thin width, two line border around the circumference of this stone. This stone was divided into five sections; the tympanum, the tablet with the information is two, the poem at the bottom is three and 4 & 5 are the two illustrated side panels. This division is more regimented that in a lot of other stones from this period. In a unusual space allotment, the poem takes up the entire lower section and the side panels are shorted to align with the tablet.
Remark
The tympanum has the arch at the top but what is unique is the decorations. These balanced images appear based on a slightly canted center line and are more abstract than most other examples. A border at the arch's bottom line is also unusual. The face with wings is proportionally smaller than other examples due to the amount of data on this stone. The wings are tab-type but pointed at their terminus. These wings support a strong lead edge. The face has a casual hair style and well-defined facial features although still emotionless. The two side panels are illustrated with plants that grow up intertwined and culminate in a nautilus shape in mirror image with both turned inwards.
